Rathganny Rare Meats
by Richard O’ Neill
Where It All Began
Farming was always one of my great passions and another was travel. So I combined both to help me grow my knowledge by working on many farm enterprises across Australia. From working on cattle feed lots in Victoria with over 7,000 head of cattle to driving grape harvester in South Australia I was always learning and picking up new knowledge and skills.
However, I always planned to come back to farming in Ireland so over time my main goal became finding a way to make this happen.
Farm to Fork
I decided that a farm to fork or farm direct service was a way forward for rearing my own animals, with me taking them the whole way through to the end product that the consumer receives. Using this process I am in a position to fully control and therefore truly guarantee the product quality.
As healthy eating is important to me, I also wanted to sell the healthiest product I could find and with goat meat tipping the scales in terms of both nutrients and leanness, I decided to also add goat meat to my product list.

Quality, Expertise, Mouth- Watering Goodness
Our Mission
When you know what Irish farms your food is coming from, you can support ethically responsible farming practices, like free-range meat, non-GMO crops, and organic farming. This is an excellent way to use your purchasing power for good, furthering the causes that you believe in and encouraging other local Irish farms to adopt and continue these practices.
Our Vision
Nowadays, there are unfortunately many hidden and sometimes hazardous issues when it comes to the food that is available to us. So it is very important to start choosing well-made products over convenience products and make it a point to know what you are putting on your plate and into your body. It feels good to know where your food comes from, because it feels good to be a part of something important.
Our farm
Here at Rathganny Rare Meats we provide free flowing pasture and all meat is grass-fed which adds to the natural and organic principle we are all about. We want to pass on the health benefits of our meat to the consumer as well as offering a farm to fork experience for those who really like to know where their meat comes from and how it is raised.
Our Process
Want to educate your kids on sustainability, the importance of the local economy, and the benefits of fresh foods? Visiting an Irish farm-to-table restaurant is a great way to do it. Talk with your kids about how the Irish farm-to-table model works, and explain why supporting farm-to-table dining is so important. Kids often learn better by experiencing something firsthand, so a fun dinner out can also become a meaningful experience for the whole family.
